Happy To Be Home

This summer, Brody and I were very blessed to see my family way more than we anticipated. We have enjoyed trips to Arizona, Veranda Beach, Salmo and finally Abbotsford again! Though we have seen my family multiple times, we hadn't been back to my hometown since before our wedding in May. Since my longtime friend's wedding fell on the same weekend as my sister Jill's goodbye party, we decided to make the trip out to attend these events.

We flew in on Thursday evening 3 hours earlier than we had anticipated. It was a little stressful rushing to the airport but it turned out to be a fun surprise! We were able to spend the evening with my family (we missed my brother-in-law Ethan for the first night sadly) and visit before heading to bed. The next day we had the opportunity to attend Makenna's wedding. Makenna and her whole family have been apart of our lives for a very long time. We were neighbours in our old neighbourhood that we lived in from the time I was seven until I was about eighteen. Needless to say our families became close and we are still great friends to this day. I am so happy that we were both able to attend each others weddings now that we have grown and I look forward to knowing her for the rest of my life.

I am so glad I don't have to go to weddings by myself anymore! :)

My younger sister Jill is going to Randolph College For the Preforming Arts in Toronto next week. She is going for a musical theatre major. So on Saturday we attended her goodbye party. She decided she wanted to have musical performances for everyone's entertainment. She had asked me to sing at the party awhile back and I agreed but when the time came I got so nervous! My two other sisters and I sang "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and then super last minute all five siblings sang Sunrise, Sunset together. This song has been a family favourite for years, it makes our parents cry when we sing it and we all love it. Both performances went great and the night was a ton of fun.

Our last day was Sunday. I always get quite emotional on our last day with my family since it is so hard to live far away. But this last day was even more emotional since we were saying goodbye to Jill before she moves away. We will see her again at Christmas, but my siblings and I share a very special bond, August to December feels like way too long to be apart. We attended church as a family, visited with my Auntie Lisa and my cousin Eric and then it was time to say goodbye.

We know that Jill is ready to go. She will succeed no matter where she goes and we are so proud of her. She has always been such a fun part of our family and our house and I'm sure my parents and younger siblings will feel a big difference in the house. We bid a very emotional farewell to my family at the airport and we were on our way. I am definitely feeling the sadness today and I miss my family already. It is time for me to remember my goals and help myself feel better. It's not goodbye, it's just see you later!

  1. It was so nice to see you while you were here! I remember having such a hard time being away from my family while I was away at school ... such special bonds. It's wonderful when you all get to come back together after being apart, though :)
