We Love Visitors

     My sister and her husband planned a trip out to Calgary a few months ago and this past weekend the time had finally come! I absolutely love having people come stay with me so we packed our weekend full of Calgary activities and had an absolute blast. They landed around 10:30 on Friday so we couldn't do much that first night but they did finally get to meet our little baby. He was even on his best behaviour for them!



    They both requested that we go to Banff on Saturday, since it was the only full day they were here. So we headed out to Banff very early on Saturday morning. We had so much fun despite being exhausted from the early morning and walking around in the hot sun. 


We had to get beaver tails!





    On our way back, Brody suggested that we stop by Lake Minnewanka. He used to go there as a child and said it was beautiful. We all agreed to go check it out and it definitely did not disappoint. 




    Later that night we went to one of our favourite restaurants, The Canadian Brewhouse. We even managed to swindle some free garlic bread and nachos.. just don't ask us how. 


I am so thankful for the relationship we have with these guys!! 


Then the next day we went to church, came home for some more Loki playtime and then packed up to go to CrossIron Mills and the Bass Pro shop. I'm not sure why I feel the need to show everybody the Bass Pro Shop when they come, but let's just say if you're planning on coming to see me at any point, it will most likely be in our itinerary.

    We finished off the weekend with a trip to Senore's Pizza and had a picnic at a nearby playground. Then bid a sad farewell at the airport. Overall, we had such a fun weekend with this great couple and I am so happy they came to visit us! We hope to see them here again soon.

 I was supposed to go into work at noon. I always started at noon on Mondays. I had started a routine of laying out in the sun from 9:30 to about 10:45 before I had to get ready for work. This way I could get some colour on my skin, get some Vitamin D and relax a little bit before my shift.  I was laying outside like I always did. I started to feel some tightness in my chest and some weird heart rate patterns. I was laying on my back on my towel outside and it felt like someone was sitting on my chest. I Value My Life

  I knew I wanted to document my experience regarding the last month. At times I sat down to write about it but ultimately felt too overwhelmed to get into the details. To be honest, I am also a bit confused about the following events, since I was quite groggy for quite some time after the surgery. Today I feel moved to sit down and tell the story of my hospital experience and surgery and all the things that have come with it.  I have had so many kind people reach out wanting to know how I am doing. I am okay. Looking back on the day after I woke up, I can't believe how much progress I have made in three weeks. I went into this surgery knowing the risks and understanding that there would be a chance things might look a bit different for my life or that I might not even have a life anymore. The New Discovery

 We had been sitting with this difficult news for quite awhile. We had a biopsy date scheduled and it was coming up quick. We were going to go on our family vacation and then come back, have the biopsy and get results. Until we found a new discovery. Something that might not have been that bad if I wasn't staring a possible cancer diagnosis in the face, but I was, and it was bad, it was devastating and it was going to postpone the biopsy.  I have a right to be vague because it is my health and probably one of the most traumatic experiences I will ever have in my life. But it is an important part of this story and I will be thankful to re read this one day.  I had hope. I thought they would still be able to do it. That medicine had progressed so much and there was no way that this could put the whole thing to a halt. Well, I was naive.
