My Last Week in BC

Image
Today marks one year since I moved out of my parents house and came to my new home in Calgary. Leading up to this day I have felt quite emotional looking back on the last few days leading up to moving day, but felt the need to put into writing some memories and thoughts of my last few days in BC.      One memory I think of when I reminisce on the last few days at home is when my family went to Cascade Falls. It is beautiful and green and represents the beauty of BC very well. I wanted to go there for my last weekend in BC. Looking back on these photos has always made me sad. I look at the girl in this photo and she really had no idea how tough this move was going to be. I think I was pushing a lot of stress and sadness down at the time regarding leaving my family, but you really can't tell from these pictures. Though it does make me a bit sad, I think back on this day quite fondly and I think it was a really great way to say goodbye to my home p...

We Love Visitors

Image
My sister and her husband planned a trip out to Calgary a few months ago and this past weekend the time had finally come! I absolutely love having people come stay with me so we packed our weekend full of Calgary activities and had an absolute blast. They landed around 10:30 on Friday so we couldn't do much that first night but they did finally get to meet our little baby. He was even on his best behaviour for them!      They both requested that we go to Banff on Saturday, since it was the only full day they were here. So we headed out to Banff very early on Saturday morning. We had so much fun despite being exhausted from the early morning and walking around in the hot sun.  We had to get beaver tails!     On our way back, Brody suggested that we stop by Lake Minnewanka. He used to go there as a child and said it was beautiful. We all agreed to go check it out and it definitely did not disappoint.      Later that n...

Auntie Becca

Image
When I arrived in Calgary almost a year ago, I knew I was going to be a girlfriend and eventually a wife. I knew I was coming out here to meet my future in-laws and Brody's whole family. I was excited and so nervous and really wanted to make a good impression. Luckily, I bonded with all of them pretty easily. But there were three family members I was especially close with and still am to this day: my nieces and nephew, Amelia, Allora and Kheean.       I have spent a lot of time with kids in my lifetime; I have nannied, worked in daycares, babysat, and I have 3 younger siblings of my own, along with many young cousins. Kids are a huge part of my life and I can't wait to have children of my own one day. So I was so so excited to meet these sweet kids and be their auntie.  I can't even explain the joy I feel whenever I walk into a room and I hear their sweet little voices saying, "Auntie Becca!!!" and they run towards me for hugs.  They were so excited t...

The Big Suprise

Image
A few months back in July, I discovered Brody was planning a surprise for me. If you didn't know, I am not a big fan of surprises, especially when everyone knows except me. So Brody had to put up with me nagging him about what the surprise was for months.  He started to want to give me clues and hints as to what it was and was expressing his excitement for the surprise, but also told me not to expect anything crazy. So I had my suspicions but he would always say a hard no when I would guess. He finally gave me a rough "surprise day" and it was September 9th. That seemed so far away!  So imagine my surprise when Brody walked through the door with my surprise in hand, 2 weeks earlier than I had thought. Oh, and it was a kitten!  told Brody that since he got me a cat (which I had been begging for for quite awhile) he could name him and he decided on Loki. Loki and I have spent a lot of time together over the last few days and I have learned a lot about him. The good,...
